Pop Art
Simon started to paint in a pop art style in 2005 as he felt that this was the best way to capture the character of a well known person, be it a film star or musician. He also likes the fact that the style captures a little of his own character at the same time. This could not be achieved by simple duplication, there has to be a transformation instead.
All of his pop art is hand drawn and painted, this is extremely time consuming as there is layer upon layer of acrylic to build up the desired texture and effect. Simon feels that this is what sets his pop art images apart from the rest, especially the computer generated versions that have no depth of character and are on cheap canvas and use cheap material, there is no comparison.
Below is a selection of his paintings, some of which are for sale and available as limited edition giclée prints. If you would like to know more, such as size or price, please get in touch via the contact page.
